One year ago in Zhangjiagang, École Hassania des Travaux Publics (EHTP), the Chinese hydrogen pioneer Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment Co. (Guofuhee), and its African joint venture Go For Hydrogen Africa (GFHA) signed a milestone Memorandum of Understanding. That agreement laid the foundation for the Joint Center of Excellence in Clean Hydrogen in Casablanca.
Today, that vision takes shape: our first integrated clean hydrogen system for Morocco has left China and is now under shipment – moving the project from promise to delivery.
This achievement is far more than a transport milestone. As one of the very first of its kind in Morocco and across Africa, this integrated clean hydrogen generation, storage, and fuel cell system — powered by solar energy from the EHTP's rooftop system — marks a pivotal step in developing Morocco’s clean hydrogen ecosystem. It also represents the first strategic project of GFHA, CBC’s inaugural joint venture, and a blueprint for future cross-continental collaborations.
The Joint Center of Excellence in Clean Hydrogen
The Joint Center of Excellence in Clean Hydrogen at EHTP is a strategic initiative designed to position Morocco as a driving force in clean hydrogen innovation. Built on the expertise of Guofuhee, GFHA, and EHTP, the Center aims to:
Advance training, capacity building, and R&D in clean hydrogen technologies.
Provide students with hands-on access to advanced hydrogen systems, starting with a containerized hydrogen generation unit integrated with a 10 kW combined heat and power (CHP) system and hydrogen storage, delivered by Guofuhee via GFHA.
Use solar energy to produce green hydrogen, which will generate clean electricity to power parts of EHTP’s infrastructure.
Enable students and professors to benefit from annual workshops, conferences, and seminars, study visits to Guofuhee’s 2.5 GW electrolyzer smart factory, the world’s largest multidisciplinary hydrogen testing center, and exposure to real-world hydrogen projects in China and Morocco.
From September 27, when EHTP launches its Executive Master in Clean Energy and Green Hydrogen, where students will benefit from this partnership by not only learning from global experts and pioneers brought by CBC, GFHA, and Guofuhee, but also by training hands-on with this system at the EHTP Casablanca campus. In addition, they will be invited to study visits and workshops at real manufacturing facilities and flagship clean hydrogen projects in China and around the world.
Partners Driving the Transformation
EHTP (École Hassania des Travaux Publics) – Morocco’s leading engineering school and a hub of academic excellence. By hosting the Joint Center of Excellence, EHTP is positioning itself at the forefront of hydrogen education and research in North Africa. Through its new Green Hydrogen Master program, it will train the next generation of Moroccan and African engineers, combining theoretical learning with hands-on training using state-of-the-art hydrogen systems.
GFHA (Go For Hydrogen Africa) – the first joint venture under the CBC #TogetherWeAreStronger Consortium & Ecosystems, headquartered in Mohammedia. With its warehouse, service, and O&M center, GFHA serves as a strategic Clean Hydrogen Epicenter for Morocco and Africa. Its mission: develop the entire clean hydrogen value chain – from production and storage to mobility and beyond – while brining together leading industry players, financial institutions, and investors.
Guofuhee (Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment Co., Ltd.) – China’s hydrogen pioneer and one of the most advanced players globally. With a fully automated 2.5 GW electrolyzer production line, a comprehensive hydrogen R&D and testing center, and decades of expertise, Guofuhee delivers full value chain solutions that are set to accelerate Morocco’s and Africa’s clean hydrogen ambitions.
“…and it all started last year in Zhangjiagang, China, with a historic MoU Signing Ceremony (you can read the related article here, and below you can watch a 2-minute video).”
Leaders’ Voices
Mostafa Boulal, CEO of GFHA (Go For Hydrogen Africa); CEO at Coreas-HighTech; CBC Chair for Morocco
“The biggest dreams start with the first step – and here it comes. With this shipment, we are not only proving our determination but also inspiring the next generation of Moroccan leaders to shape a clean and sustainable future.”
Mr. Pinfang Wu, Chairman of Guofuhee & CBC Honorary Co-Chair CBC Clean Hydrogen Hub
“I have always believed that business is not only about making money, but even more about making a true positive impact and contributing. That is why we are supporting Morocco with our full value chain of hydrogen solutions – to help it become a global hub. And when the market begins delivering on its promises, we will, together with our joint venture GFHA, be ready to build a manufacturing base in Morocco to serve the country and entire African continent.”
Tomasz Slusarz, Founder & Vision Streamliner of CBC; CSO of GFHA (Go For Hydrogen Africa)
“This is proof that #TogetherWeAreStronger is not just a slogan but our modus operandi. When we coined it during the hard times of COVID, many thought it was only words. But step by step, it became contagious, embraced by more and more leaders. And if it truly becomes the modus operandi of our global community, then together we can move mountains – for our industries, and most importantly, for our planet.”
December 2025: A Historic Milestone
December will mark another turning point with the official opening of the Joint Center of Excellence in Clean Hydrogen at EHTP.
To celebrate and accelerate this journey, CBC will host a special CBC Business Mission to Morocco.
Highlights will include:
Official inauguration of the Joint Center of Excellence in Clean Hydrogen (Casablanca, EHTP)
Morocco Showcase of Quo Vadis Clean Hydrogen? Book Initial Edition (2025)
Strategic visits to MASEN and IRESEN
Site visits to flagship showcase projects
CBC Morocco Leaders Golf Invitational – Road to the Global CleanTech Cup at the Royal Golf Club in Mohammedia
Human-to-Human networking and social activities
Looking Ahead
And this is just the beginning. In the coming years, under the CBC #TogetherWeAreStronger Consortium & Ecosystem in Morocco, we will support our partners in expanding into hydrogen refueling stations, mobility pilots, modular hydrogen production and storage projects, and eventually manufacturing localization.
Step by step, we are laying the foundation for Morocco to emerge as a global clean hydrogen hub – a vision fully aligned with the country’s ambition to showcase sustainable leadership at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Once again, CBC – together with its Leadership Family Members – proves that we don’t just talk, we deliver. And together, we are shaping the future of clean hydrogen for Morocco, Africa, and the world. #TogetherWeAreStronger
“…and last but not least, here is a photo collage tracing our journey and joint efforts from the very beginning of our collaboration — when the time was right, the right people came together, and opportunities aligned, as the Chinese saying goes: ‘天时、地利、人和’ (the right time, the right place, and harmony among people).”
